Home and Community Based Services (HCBS)

Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) are designed to support individuals with developmental disabilities in community settings. These services are designed to give individuals more independence, choice, and opportunities to participate in everyday community life.

Federal rules, called the HCBS Final Rule, make sure services are provided in ways that respect people’s rights, personal preferences, and goals. VMRC works with the California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) and local providers to make sure everyone follows these rules.

VMRC is committed to supporting individuals receiving services and their families in understanding their rights and the HCBS requirements that protect those rights.

Training and Support for Providers

VMRC provides training and support to help service providers meet HCBS requirements. Providers can also apply for HCBS Grant Funding to improve facilities, vehicles, or staff training to meet HCBS requirements. See the links below for scheduled HCBS trainings (registration required).
