“A Day with Cari Ebert: Supporting Our Young Learners in Early Start
Cari will be presenting two very different topics this year that will be useful to those who live and work with our young children. In the morning, Cari will present “Making Sense of Sensory”. The way young children take in and respond to sensory information can significantly impact their learning, development and behavior. During this presentation, early childhood professionals and parents will increase their knowledge related to the impact of sensory-motor issues on speech, language and social-emotional development. Participants will examine the benefits of using multisensory activities to help young children interact more effectively with their environment.
The afternoon session “Partnering with Parents in Early Intervention” will focus on coaching strategies to improve active family participation during Early Intervention (EI) sessions. We will examine the different delivery models, compare coaching versus consulting, outline the coaching process for providers, and discuss ways to effectively prepare families regarding program expectations and their role in the EI process.
Registration materials will be available in late summer. Scholarships will be available to parents of children receiving Early Start services who live in Amador, Calaveras, San Joaquin, Stanislaus and Tuolumne Counties. A limited number of scholarships are available for parents of preschool age children. Registration fee for local attendees is $75; $125 for those from out of area.
